Mercury Holidays asks for a standard deposit of £250 per person for beach holiday bookings made more than 12 weeks before departure. This secures your booking and counts towards the total holiday cost. Occasionally a higher deposit may be needed where parts of the booking can’t be cancelled. If the deposit or balance isn’t paid by the due date, the booking may be treated as cancelled and the deposit retained - so don’t forget to pay on time.
For escorted tours booked more than 12 weeks before departure, the deposit is £295 per person. This confirms the tour arrangements and will be deducted from your final balance. Sometimes a larger deposit is required if certain components can’t be cancelled - the exact amount will be shown on your booking confirmation invoice.
If you make an amendment more than twelve weeks before departure, Mercury Holidays charges £25 per person. You’ll also need to cover any extra costs the airline or hotel applies because of the change. Amendments within twelve weeks are treated as cancellations and cancellation charges apply. The amendment fee is payable in addition to any supplier charges.
If you transfer your place, Mercury Holidays needs to be notified at least seven days before departure and charges £30 per person for the transfer. Any outstanding balance and any extra fees from the transfer must also be paid. The person taking the place must meet the original booking conditions and supplier charges may apply. Transfers notified less than seven days before departure are not usually accepted.
The final balance is due 12 weeks before the departure date. The exact payment date is on your confirmation invoice and in the Manage My Booking area. If the balance isn’t received by the due date, Mercury Holidays may treat the booking as cancelled and keep any deposit paid. You can pay the balance online or by contacting the reservations team - Top tip: check your invoice for the exact date so you don’t forget.
If you’ve provided an email address, Mercury Holidays will send a confirmation email with your booking summary within 48 hours. If you haven’t received it after 48 hours, contact the reservations team. If you booked through a travel agent, check with them as they’ll forward your documents. The confirmation email shows the balance due date and full booking details.
Mercury Holidays accepts Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards with no surcharge for credit card payments. American Express isn’t accepted. For holiday balances, they also accept cheque or bank transfer. Card payments and other accepted methods are listed on the payment options page.
Cancellation charges are a percentage of the holiday cost and depend on how many days before departure you cancel. More than 84 days before departure the loss is limited to the deposit only; 84–70 days the charge is 50%; 69–43 days 70%; 42–29 days 80%; 28–15 days 90%; and 14 days or less 100% of the holiday cost. Some supplier-arranged services and premiums (for example, insurance or third-party extras) may be non-refundable on top of these charges. The level of charge depends on the date Mercury Holidays receives written notice of cancellation.
If Mercury Holidays makes a significant change that you don’t accept, or cancels less than 70 days before departure and no acceptable alternative is available, they’ll refund all monies paid and pay compensation. The compensation is tiered: £10 per person if the change or cancellation is between 70 and 15 days before departure, and £20 per person if it’s 14 days or less before departure. Compensation doesn’t apply where changes are due to Force Majeure or where the change is insignificant. You can still seek further redress if you’re entitled to do so.
Mercury Holidays works with Holiday Extras for airport parking, hotels and lounge bookings, and says customers can save up to 60% on these items. Prices vary by airport, date and product and are shown during the Holiday Extras booking process. These extras are optional and charged separately from your holiday booking - exact costs are shown when you buy them. Mercury Holidays makes clear these extras are arranged through a third-party provider.
If someone in your party has particular special requirements, contact the reservations team for help and provide full details at the time of booking. If Mercury Holidays reasonably feels it can’t properly accommodate a need it may not confirm the booking or may cancel it when the undisclosed requirement comes to light - cancellation charges could then apply. Early disclosure helps Mercury Holidays and its suppliers assess whether requirements can be safely and reasonably met.
Mercury Holidays says all holidays are ATOL protected where applicable and that the company is a member of ABTA. This protection covers the flight portion of a holiday and any repatriation if the supplier becomes insolvent when ATOL is required. ABTA membership offers extra support for non-flight packages. Check your documentation to confirm the exact protections for your booking.
If Mercury Holidays doesn’t receive the deposit or balance in full by the due date, it reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled and retain the deposit. Make sure payments are made by the dates on your confirmation invoice - any such cancellation will be treated as a cancellation by the customer and cancellation charges may apply. The balance and deposit terms are set out in the booking conditions and your confirmation documents.
For new bookings, Mercury Holidays provides a specialist reservations telephone number and also offers LiveChat and WhatsApp contact options. Opening hours are shown on the contact page with office times for weekdays and weekends. You can use the automated request-a-quote form for enquiries, and Manage My Booking for existing bookings. Postal contact details for the head office are available for written correspondence.
Mercury Holidays provides a complimentary in-resort representative service for customers during their holiday. This 24/7 in-resort support helps with local queries, transfers and any issues that come up while you’re away. The representative service is included and doesn’t carry a separate charge. Check your resort information for details on how to contact the representative while in destination.
Apart from online card payments, Mercury Holidays accepts holiday balance payments by cheque or bank transfer. Allow enough time for clearance so the balance reaches them by the due date. Payment details are on your booking documentation and in Manage My Booking. Remember to reference your booking when paying by non-card methods so the payment can be matched correctly.
Transfer pick-up times are shown on the hotel’s reception information board or by contacting the Mercury Holidays representative in resort. For private transfers, check the hotel reception or speak to the in-resort representative. Mercury Holidays recommends confirming these local information sources close to arrival to get the exact time - the representative can help with any last-minute transfer queries.
Mercury Holidays explains that written notification of cancellation or change takes effect from the date it’s received by the company, so get written confirmation of any cancellation. Contact them immediately by phone, email or in writing to avoid extra costs. Cancellation and amendment charges are applied based on the date the notice is received - keep written confirmation of any changes or cancellations for your records.
If one or more members of a party cancel, Mercury Holidays notes the per-person price for those still travelling may increase and the remaining travellers will be liable for the difference. Any such increase will be communicated and charged in line with the booking terms. This happens because of fixed supplier costs and the redistribution of the booking cost across fewer travellers - worth bearing in mind if you’re changing who’s going.
