How the calculator works: an example

Example: you're buying a faux fur throw at John Lewis for £125.00, and you have a 10% off code. If a 40% sale is on and the code also works on sale items, the sale takes off £50.00 and the code a further £7.50, so the basket drops to £67.50: a saving of £57.50. That is still over the £50.00 free delivery threshold, so the £4.50 delivery charge doesn't apply. Press “Fill in the example” to see it worked out, or put in your own basket, sale and code. Whether a code works on sale items depends on its terms.

How to use a John Lewis discount code

Add the items to your basket on johnlewis.com: a code is only valid once a qualifying product is in the basket.
Enter the code in your basket and check the discount shows before you pay.
Use one code per order: if you have two, place separate orders. Any spend threshold is measured after other discounts.
Website codes work online only unless stated. APP10 is the exception: it works only in the John Lewis app, not on johnlewis.com.

Why isn't my John Lewis code working?

A code needs a qualifying product in the basket, and only one works per order. Codes are for johnlewis.com unless stated, so an app code such as APP10 won't work on the website, and many terms exclude Apple, gift cards and delivery charges.
